Biennial Gender Equality Report Deadline Extended to July 15, 2024
The deadline for the electronic submission of the biennial report on the status of male and female personnel, covering the period 2022-2023, for companies with more than 50 employees has been extended to July 15, 2024, from the original date of April 30, 2024.
The so-called Code of Equal Opportunities (Legislative Decree No. 198/2006) introduced the obligation for companies meeting the above-mentioned employment threshold to prepare a biennial report on the employment status of male and female personnel. The report must be prepared electronically, starting from June 4, 2024, through the dedicated portal of the Ministry of Labor and Social Policies, and transmitted to company representatives or, in their absence, to the territorial offices of the most representative national trade union organizations.
Failure to compile, or compiling a false or incomplete report, may expose companies to the risk of sanctions. Specifically, false or incomplete information may result in an administrative fine ranging from EUR 1,000 to 5,000. Furthermore, in the event of failure to submit the report, the competent National Labor Inspectorate will formally invite the company to comply within 60 days. If the company fails to comply, an administrative fine of up to EUR 516.00 is imposed.
Failure to comply with this obligation for more than 12 months will result in the suspension of any contributory benefits the company may enjoy for a period of 1 year. Companies with up to 50 employees, although not obligated, may voluntarily prepare the report following the same procedures.
